CUDD is a four track Carolina project shaped by Charlotte slang, regional identity, and the creative world Masiah Wilson continues to build. The title comes from a native Charlotte expression that means something fine or good, often used when you see or encounter something impressive. The extra D adds emphasis, a detail familiar to anyone who grew up in Charlotte during the nineties.
The project features WALK, 6IX PHONES, BBQ, and RICHIE RICH. WALK was produced by Dope Boi and recorded at Wash House Studios, engineered, mixed, and mastered by Marvyn Thibodeaux, also known as Smiley. 6IX PHONES was recorded at the same studio and engineered, mixed, and mastered by Smiley as well. BBQ and RICHIE RICH were produced by CMBeats Music and recorded at Soul Asylum Studios in Chamblee, where they were also mixed and mastered. Outside of BBQ and RICHIE RICH, which were created on the same day, these records were not originally intended to be part of the same project. WALK previously appeared on the BA$e project, while 6IX PHONES was held as an unreleased single until CUDD brought everything together.
The album artwork reflects the tone of the project with a bright yellow background covered in symbols of Carolina street culture and underground identity.
